The company’s history began 140 years ago in the USA, in a small factory producing cast-iron toilets and washbasins. It was founded by two Irish immigrants. The company is now headquartered in Brussels, but operates in more than 20 countries across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. Over the course of its existence, it has built a strong and stable position in sanitary technology, especially on the German market. Ideal Standard pays great attention to innovation and development.

In 1969, the company became the first manufacturer to launch a wall-hung toilet, and in 1970, the first cartridge with ceramic discs. The company was also the first to introduce sanitary acrylic as a material for manufacturing bathtubs.
