SCHELL boasts an 80-year history during which it has proven its well-deserved position in the sanitary equipment market. The product range includes not only internationally awarded angle valves, but also complete solutions for bathrooms and kitchens. These products are suitable not only for households, but also for public, semi-public, and industrial spaces.

History speaks for SCHELL: 80 years on the market

SCHELL, focused on the production of outlet fittings, was founded in the German city of Olpe in 1932 by Hubert Schell. Thanks to high quality, precise workmanship, and innovative solutions, the company quickly established itself on the market. In 1935, it began producing WC flushing systems, and in 1962 it expanded its services to include heating fittings. In 1974, there was a significant increase in capacity along with the construction of new production and logistics centers. In 1999, the development of sanitary electronics took place, especially electronically controlled washbasin fittings. The company continued to expand its portfolio and strengthen its market position with existing products. After 2000, SCHELL also successfully established itself in Poland, Belgium, India, Hungary, France, and Singapore.

From angle valves to a wide range of sanitary equipment

The company began producing angle control valves as early as 1949 and has perfected their range ever since. Gradually, it added more products to its portfolio. Key milestones included completing the program for public/semi-public sanitary spaces with LINUS shower and wall-mounted fittings, as well as the SCHELL inside project, which focuses on public and industrial sanitary spaces with washbasin and shower fittings and flushing systems for toilets and urinals. Today, its portfolio includes not only comprehensive system solutions, but also washbasins, showers, toilets, urinals, installation bodies, kitchen solutions, and of course angle control valves and heating fittings.

Thoughtful hygiene

All SCHELL products are subject to high quality standards, as demonstrated by a number of met technological norms. These include the Drinking Water Ordinance (TrinkwV) and standards such as DIN 50930 Part 6, DIN EN 1717, and KTW (plastics in drinking water). The company also holds quality certifications such as ASAG, DVGW, and TÜV Rheinland (ISO 9001:2015). SCHELL even offers protection against the dangerous Legionella bacteria, as almost all electronically controlled washbasin and shower fittings include an integrated thermal disinfection function against Legionella (a five-minute flush with water at 70 °C, which eliminates the bacteria). Thanks to touchless control in many products, the hygiene standard of the given spaces is also increased. In case of inactivity (e.g. weekends in school facilities), a hygienic 20-second flush is automatically activated after no later than 24 hours.

A strong market position with an ecological edge

In 2018, SCHELL received an award as the number one company in the global market for angle valves. More than half a billion of them have been installed worldwide! However, this was not the first award confirming its quality and strong market position. Thanks to its digital technology offering SMART.SWS Cloud Service, it received the German Innovation Award. It also boasts the internationally highest water efficiency rating (Water Rating). The company is also a member of the Blue Responsibility initiative for sustainable sanitary solutions and the European association of valve manufacturers EUnited Valves WELL – Water Efficiency Label.
