Swiss Quality Since 1895

The company’s history began in 1895, when Jakob Zehnder founded a manufacturing plant in Gränichen, Switzerland, producing motorcycles, typewriters, sewing machines, and washing machines. By 1930, the company shifted its focus to households, as one of the founder’s sons (Robert Zehnder) invented the tubular radiator, which was significantly lighter than the cast-iron radiators of the time and offered improved thermal conductivity. From 1952, the company also focused on industrial heating. Due to growing demand for tubular radiators, a subsidiary was established in Riegel, Germany, in 1964. In 1980, the company strengthened its position further by merging with radiator manufacturer Beutler. That same year, Zehnder introduced the first radiator designed for both heating and towel drying.

Trendsetters

Since 2000, Zehnder has gradually entered the comfort ventilation and heat and humidity recovery market. The range was also expanded to include ceiling cooling panels and air purification devices, primarily for industrial buildings. Since 2003, Zehnder has closely collaborated with the prestigious company Villeroy & Boch, whose designers created bathroom radiators matching their sanitary ceramics. With its Zehnder Dualis line, the company redefined home comfort climate, earning the Design Plus Award. Today, Zehnder offers everything needed for a comfortable and healthy indoor climate: designer radiators for bathrooms and living spaces, complete ventilation systems with heat recovery, and ceiling radiant panels for heating and cooling.
